Our Story

THE WALK ‘N’ TALK STORY

Built on blokes, struggles, and real conversations.

Across Central Queensland and all over Australia, good men are quietly doing it tough. They show up for work, support their families, and hold it together for everyone else, all while carrying a weight that no one sees. Behind closed doors, many are battling stress, shame, and silence, unsure how to ask for help or even where to start.

That old story still lingers: Harden up. Don’t talk about it. Get on with it.

But it’s not working. It’s isolating men, stretching families thin, and leaving too many people to suffer in silence.

Chris and Jordan know that reality firsthand. Between them, they’ve faced trauma, addiction, grief, and the kind of loneliness that convinces you you’re the only one not coping. What helped them wasn’t a clinical checklist or a one-size-fits-all service. It was a walk. A conversation. A moment of honesty between two mates who were willing to show up for each other.

That walk became a ripple. And that ripple grew into Walk ‘n’ Talk Collective.

We weren’t created in a boardroom. We were built from lived experience and a shared decision to walk alongside the men and families who feel forgotten. We show up without judgment, without ego, and without expecting anyone to have it all together.

Today, Walk ‘n’ Talk supports communities across Rockhampton, Gladstone, Emerald, Banana Shire, Moranbah, Mackay, and the Capricorn Coast. We offer peer mentoring, mental health support, NDIS assistance, family reunification, child safety support, youth re-engagement, and grassroots workshops that meet people where they’re at — physically, emotionally, and honestly.

We walk beside the men and families doing it tough in silence, the dads trying to keep it together, and the sons who don’t know where to turn. It’s a reminder that no one is too far gone — and a commitment that no man should ever have to walk alone.

It started with two blokes who decided to do something different.

And it still begins the same way.

OUR VISION & STRATEGY

What We Stand For
At Walk ‘n’ Talk Collective, our values aren’t just words on a page — they guide every conversation, every service, and every step we take. We're grounded in community, fuelled by lived experience, and committed to walking beside people when they need it most.

Empathy

We listen first. We meet people where they are — without judgment, labels, or assumptions. Everyone has a story, and we honour that with care and respect.

Compassion

We’re here because we care. Every service we deliver is driven by a genuine commitment to help people feel seen, heard, and supported.

Education

We believe knowledge is power. Whether it’s through peer mentoring, school programs, or workplace talks, we’re constantly creating opportunities for people to learn, grow, and take charge of their mental wellbeing.

Dedication

This is more than a job to us — it’s a calling. We show up, follow through, and stay the course, even when the work is hard or the path isn’t clear.

Inclusivity

Mental health doesn't discriminate — and neither do we. Our doors are open to everyone, regardless of gender, background, identity, or life experience.

Collaboration

We work better together. That means teaming up with families, schools, services, support coordinators, workplaces, and community leaders to make change stick.

Advocacy

We speak up — especially for those who can’t. We challenge stigma, push for better systems, and fight for the right of every person to access support, dignity, and healing.

Transparency

We’re honest, clear, and open about how we work and where funds go. Trust is earned, and we work hard to keep it.

Resillience

We build it. We model it. We support others to find it. Because even in tough seasons, people deserve to feel hopeful about what’s next.
