Breaking down barriers.
Building up lives.

Every day in Australia, seven men die by suicide. Most never told anyone they were struggling. Walk ‘n’ Talk exists to change that. We smash stigma, create space for honesty, and walk beside men and families so they never have to face it alone.

WHY WE EXIST – The Reality We Refuse to Ignore

'ON AVERAGE 9 AUSTRALIANS DIE BY SUICIDE EVERY DAY. 7 ARE MEN' We're here to change that.

Walk ‘n’ Talk exists because too many men stay silent when they are hurting, and silence kills.

We are here to tear down the walls built by shame, fear, and outdated ideas of strength. Real strength is not hiding pain. It is facing it together.

Everything we do starts with one core belief: connection before direction. Before anyone can change their path, they need to feel seen, heard, and supported.

Every walk, every conversation, every story shared reminds men they are not broken, not weak, and never beyond help.

This is where truth is spoken without judgment. Where connection builds resilience. Where hope has a chance to grow.

When the barriers fall, healing begins and lives are rebuilt.

Why we exist

Men are still dying in silence. The numbers haven’t shifted much. The stigma’s still there. And out here in regional Queensland, the support isn’t always easy to find.

Men are still dying in silence. The numbers haven’t shifted much. The stigma’s still there. And out here in regional Queensland, the support isn’t always easy to find.

Men are three times more likely to take their own lives than women. In rural areas, the suicide rate is more than double what it is in the city.

In Australia, 75% of all suicides are by men (ABS, 2022) Only 27% of men living with a mental health condition reach out for help.

Despite these numbers, men are still far less likely to seek help. The pressure to "man up" or "push through" keeps too many locked in silence until it is too late.

We exist because those numbers are not just statistics. They are mates we have lost, brothers we could not save, and sons who never got the chance to grow old. Every number is a name, a story, a life that should still be here. Walk ‘n’ Talk is here to change that by meeting men where they are, walking beside them through the darkness, and proving they are never alone.

If you or someone you know needs immediate crisis support, please contact Lifeline on 13 11 14 or lifeline.org.au.

To the Women Who Hold Space for Us

Behind every story of recovery and resilience, there is often a woman who refused to give up. The ones who sit quietly beside the storm. Who listen without trying to fix. Who remind men they are worth the fight even when they can’t see it for themselves.

We see you. The mothers, partners, sisters, daughters, friends, and colleagues who check in, speak up, and help men find the courage to open up. The women on our board who guide our direction. The women in our team who walk alongside us every day. And the women in our communities who believe in what we do and make it possible.

You are the anchors when the weight is too heavy. The safety when the world feels unsafe. The reason many men take that first step toward help.

This movement is stronger because of you. And we are genuinely grateful you walk with us.
